About The Event
All Community Members encouraged to attend!
WHAT: The opioid epidemic and other substance misuse has taken a strong hold, not just at a national level, but right here in our community. PEER Wellness Center, West Central Mountains Youth Advocacy Coalition, and Central District Health are hosting a series of educational awareness events on substance use disorder and recovery in Valley County as part of the Valley County Opioid Response Project.
Community members are encouraged to attend as a panel of local advocates and experts explore addiction and recovery in Valley County and discuss ways to increase awareness and bring solutions to alcohol and drug misuse.
Panelists will speak during the event and answer questions from area residents.
WHY: Two-thirds of Americans have a family member who is struggling with addiction and needs help to recovery. Idaho ranked fifth among individuals 12 years and older misusing pain relievers in 2015/2016, according to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
Through these forums, organizations in Valley County will educate community members on addiction and the stigma associated with Substance Use Disorders (SUD), seek feedback regarding community-based solutions, and connect attendees to local resources.
