PEER Wellness Center:
Code of Ethics Public Policy
Purpose: This policy establishes the ethical framework governing all recovery support operations at PEER Wellness Center. Scope: Applies to all community center employees, board members, and active volunteers.
Policy: PEER Wellness Center has adopted the National Association of Addiction Professionals' (NAADAC) Code of Ethics, with strict adherence to Section X (Peer Recovery Support Ethics) and Section XI (Organizational Ethics). This code serves as the foundation for the standards that we hold our staff and volunteers to and guides our organizational accountability to the community that we serve.
Compliance & Enforcement: Violations of this code are subject to internal disciplinary action. Members of the public, participants, or family members who observe a breach of this code are encouraged to file a formal report through the [Participant & Community Grievance Policy].
*A SPECIAL NOTE
ABOUT CERTIFIED PEER SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS
In addition to our organizational Code of Ethics, all state-certified peer support workers, whether employed by or volunteering at PEER Wellness Center, are also required to adhere to the specific Code of Ethics set by their credentialing agency. Information on filing an ethical complaint regarding a certified peer support professional can be found at:
Our Core Ethical Principles
While the full ethical code covers comprehensive professional standards, our team focuses daily on these core pillars established by NAADAC:
-
The Peer Recovery Support Relationship: Prioritizing the well-being, dignity, and self-determination of every individual we serve.
-
Evidence-Based Screening & Self-Directed Planning: Utilizing standard screening tools to offer brief interventions and referrals, while strictly supporting participants as they design their own self-directed Recovery Management or WRAP plans.
-
Confidentiality and Privacy: Strictly safeguarding your personal information and recovery journey.
-
Professional Responsibility: Maintaining clear boundaries, honesty, and high standards of personal conduct.
Review the Full Code of Ethics
We believe in complete transparency. You can view, download, or print the full, official NAADAC Code of Ethics
directly from their website.
If you ever feel a member of our team has fallen short of these standards, we encourage you to review our [Participant & Community Grievance Policy] to learn how to file a formal report.
